Introducing our newest staff member: Maleficent, also known as Mal, is a five year old English Lab, and she’ll be joining us at the DCMO BOCES Harrold Campus beginning on Wednesday, April 24, 2024. We appreciate our Social Worker, Jennifer McNeilly, and her willingness to share Maleficent with our school community. Mal has been trained in CGC (Canine Good Citizen) classes 1 and 2 as well as passing two therapy dog classes/tests. She has worked at hospice, and then continued her work with a local nursing home where she loved getting belly rubs and snuggling with the residents. In her free time she likes to run as fast as she can around her owner’s property and play with her family. Mal is very excited about coming to campus to see our students!

It was another busy and successful maple season at the Robert W. Harrold Campus! Students in the Conservation program and our FFA chapter collected 8,500 gallons of sap and made 115 gallons of syrup. Students in other programs, including Visual Communications, Autobody Refinishing & Repair, Carpentry & Building Construction, Computer Technology and Security & Law Enforcement also played roles in helping with the project this year. In addition to collecting and boiling sap, the students created maple confections and hosted visits by other DCMO BOCES classes and Bainbridge-Guilford Elementary School, and traveled to Greene Elementary School to teach first graders about maple production. Members of the FFA chapter also traveled to Albany for Maple Day, an industry advocacy event at the state capitol, and operate the FFA store on campus where our maple products are available for purchase. We’re proud of their hard work and sweet results!
