
Teams from DCMO BOCES and component districts gathered at the Robert W. Harrold Campus on Wednesday, July 30th for LINKS, our regional comprehensive action planning event. Now in its 27th year, LINKS continues to bring school teams together to collaborate on the development of action steps for required state plans in a focused and supportive environment.
This year’s keynote address featured educator, speaker, and author Trevor Muir, who is partnering with DCMO BOCES with three professional learning appearances this summer and fall. His presentation, "Innovative Teaching for a Changing World: Cultivating Mindsets and Competencies That Matter," connected to the values of the Portrait of a Graduate that emphasize collaboration, critical thinking, resilience, and cultural competence.
About 100 participants attended the event from eight school districts: Afton CSD, Bainbridge-Guilford CSD, DCMO BOCES, Downsville CSD, Franklin CSD, Gilbertsville-Mt. Upton CSD, Greene CSD, and Unatego CSD. DCMO BOCES Instructional Support Services staff were on hand to assist with facilitation and planning.

Leadership teams from 11 school districts and both DCMO BOCES campuses attended the 2025 Leadership Academy: Power of Connection. The 2-day event was held at the Shenandoah Country Club of Turning Stone Resort in Verona, and featured keynote speaker Trevor Muir, a nationally-known educator, author, and motivational speaker specializing in innovative teaching methods. There were team building activities, several breakout sessions on a variety of topics and informal conversations. Thursday’s sessions were focused on the recently-approved NYS Education Department “Portrait of a Graduate." The Leadership Academy is organized and presented annually by the DCMO BOCES Instructional Support Services Team, led by Ginger Rinaldo, Assistant Superintendent of DCMO BOCES. The 60 participants were from Afton CSD, Bainbridge-Guilford CSD, Delaware Academy CSD at Delhi, Downsville CSD, Franklin CSD, Otselic Valley CSD, Oxford Academy CSD, Sherburne-Earlville CSD, Unatego CSD, Unadilla Valley CSD, Walton CSD and the Harrold and Pole Campuses of DCMO BOCES.











On June 25, DCMO BOCES celebrated the graduation of 23 students from the Practical Nursing Program in a ceremony at the Alan D. Pole Campus in Norwich. Students were recognized by their instructors, Melissa Foster, RN, Kendra Crandall, RN, and Denise Smith, RN, and DCMO BOCES District Superintendent Michael Rullo addressed the audience. Graduating in the Class of 2025 are Kirsty Anne Wyns, Corryn J. Griffin, Shane Pelage-Burrell, Latisha S. Spruill, Shania Marie Shaff, LaShonda Dominique McQueen, May Sol Auayan Sanchez, Ashley Jeanne Coe Pierce, Ashley Steven Higbie, Destiny L. Seang, Karlee Lynn Kenyon, Stella E. Galesky, Hailey Marie Lynn, Brittany Lynn Hickok, Amora Tamara Alexis Marks, Amanda Catherine Green, Miah Louise Cuzzo, Christina A. Tefft, Gabriella Ray Albertina, Charly K. Aragona, Tziphora Ramseur, Marie Josee Douge and Sarah Louise Zeboris. Several students were recognized with awards, including Valedictorian Ashley Steven Higbie, Salutatorian Ashley Jeanne Coe Pierce, Hailey Marie Lynn, who received the Rising Star Award, Latisha S. Spruill, Outstanding Clinical Nurse Award, May Sol Auayan Sanchez, who received the Nightingale Award for academic and clinical support of her fellow students, and Amora Tamara Alexis Marks, who received the Nurse Leadership Award. We recognized our Career and Technical Education students June 16 at the DCMO BOCES Robert W. Harrold Campus. The Student Recognition Night celebrated our CTE students and their accomplishments, including completion of programs, attainment of certifications, endorsements, licensure and other professional credentials. We’re proud of their achievements, and appreciate all who have supported them along their paths.











Saturday, June 14 was Airport Day at the Lt. Warren E. Eaton Airport in Norwich, and DCMO BOCES was there to support middle and high school students interested in learning more about careers in aviation, with presenters from two area colleges with aviation-related programs and other aviation organizations. Groups on hand included Mohawk Valley Community College and their Aviation Maintenance Program, SUNY Schenectady Community College which highlighted their Air Pilot, Air Traffic Controller and Drone program, and the Experimental Aircraft Association, which discussed resources to support students interested in the aviation career field. The EAA also awarded a scholarship to Delaware Academy CSD at Delhi and DCMO BOCES senior Joanna Scherer.

DCMO BOCES Career & Technical Education (CTE) staff participated in “Framing Tomorrow: A Statewide Collaboration to Shape the Future” prersented by the CTE Technical Assistance Center of NY on June 17 at Broome-Tioga BOCES. The site was one of 6 statewide, with over 900 educators from across the state participating. The session included a keynote presentation from Jane Oakes, a Senior Policy Advisor for WorkingNation, who shared national best practices in creating, maintaining and growing effective partnerships. It was great to be a part of this amazing day of learning!

Erika Backus and class and Darci Ackerman have been working hard on the Backpack Program this school year! The Backpack program serves both Robert W. Harrold Campus and Alan D. Pole Campus, sending home some much needed essentials for students enrolled in the program. DCMO BOCES Alan D. Pole Campus held a graduation ceremony Thursday for their full-day students. The event, which was attended by family, friends, teachers, administrators and other staff, celebrated students Brooke DeMuth, Cherokee Hall, and Ariel Rios, Oxford Academy CSD; Taylor Jenkins, Shane Lewis and Ryan McIntyre, Norwich City Schools; Katie Kenyon, Otselic Valley CSD; and Anthony Yang, Greene CSD. Katie Kenyon and Cherokee Hall received the BOCES Administrators Award, Brooke DeMuth and Ariel Rios received the BOCES Teacher Association Award, and Brooke DeMuth received the Jeff Meade Memorial Scholarship, given for the greatest improvements in physical education. We are so proud of all their accomplishments!











Friday was Graduation/Moving Up Day for our preschool students at the Alan D. Pole Campus in Norwich. The children processed and performed several songs for an appreciative audience before receiving their special certificates. There were even cupcakes and other treats to enjoy at the end! Thank you to preschool teacher and coordinator Janet Tumminia and classroom aides Rena Frayer and Savanah Clarkson. It was a great year, and a fun event!











Our graduating CTE students take the skilled trades they’ve learned and apply them in the local workforce after graduation, helping meet the demand of the local economy. This week, DCMO BOCES helped celebrate this important milestone with a signing ceremony at the Alan D. Pole campus in Norwich. Employers, family, teachers and administrators from both DCMO BOCES and students’ home schools gathered and watched as 26 students signed certificates commemorating their agreement to begin their careers with 11 different employers or trade unions. Local businesses were recognized for providing internships, shadowing, co-op experiences, field trips, and job opportunities. Attendees were welcomed by Jennifer Lawrence, Director of CTE at DCMO BOCES, and closing remarks were by Pole Campus Principal Ryan DeMars. Refreshments were prepared by students in the Culinary Arts program. We are so proud of our CTE students accomplishments, and look forward to their continuing contribution to our region! The DCMO BOCES School Library System hosted a School Library and Administrator Recognition Celebration Wednesday at the Canasawacta Country Club in Norwich. Attendees from Afton CSD, Bainbridge-Guilford CSD, Delaware Academy CSD at Delhi, DCMO BOCES, Franklin CSD, Gilbertsville-Mount Upton CSD, Greene CSD, Otselic Valley CSD, Oxford CSD, Sherburne-Earlville CSD, Sidney CSD and Walton CSD heard a keynote presentation from Jennifer LaGarde, a renowned library and literacy leader and co-author the books Fact vs. Fiction: teaching Critical Thinking in the Age of Fake News and Developing Digital Detectives. Tina Cruikshank, Library Aide at Otselic Valley CSD; Marie Gray, Library Clerk, Sidney CSD; and Kris McDermott, Library Aide, Greene CSD Primary and Intermediate Schools all received awards. Oxford Academy CSD Librarian Margaret Cox and Bainbridge-Guilford CSD administrator Linda Maynard were recognized for their service as they prepare to retire.
