Our graduating CTE students take the skilled trades they’ve learned and apply them in the local workforce after graduation, helping meet the demand of the local economy. This week, DCMO BOCES helped celebrate this important milestone with signing ceremonies at both the Harrold and Pole campuses. Employers, family, teachers and administrators from both DCMO BOCES and students’ home schools gathered and watched as 14 students at Pole and 15 students at Harrold signed certificates commemorating their agreement to begin their careers with 16 different employers or trade unions. We are so proud of their accomplishment, and look forward to their continuing contribution to our region! Here are some photos from Thursday's signing ceremony at Pole Campus.

On May 9, the DCMO BOCES Pole Campus Early Childhood Education class visited Solitude Farmz in Oxford, New York. Owners Taylor and Nancy Zimmer talked to the students about the power of possibilities, purpose, and the ability to be of service. Solitude Farmz describes itself as “not just a destination, but a space for dreaming and refreshing the soul.” Located against the tranquil McDonough State Park Forest, it offers miles of trail walking that includes a vast overlook and breathtaking gorge. They offer rental Airbnb accommodations, professional development, as well as education and access to their Monarch Waystation. The Early Childhood Education class would like to send a special thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Zimmer for their time, as well as the opportunity for us to have a day out in nature while being educated about the possibilities in our fields of interest. We look forward to next year!
