The DCMO BOCES Regional "All Means All" Steering Committee hosted a Student Board Member End-of-Year Celebration at the DCMO BOCES Support Services Center in Norwich on Wednesday. The gathering is part of an initiative to elevate student voice and support districts in strengthening the role of student board members. Wednesday’s event both celebrated and recognized the contributions of current student board members, supporting a smooth transition for those stepping into the role next year. Incoming student board members engaged in mentorship opportunities with outgoing members, fostering connection, confidence, and continuity in leadership.
Participating in Wednesday’s event were current and/or incoming student board members from Otselic Valley CSD, Bainbridge-Guilford CSD, Afton CSD, Unadilla Valley CSD, Gilbertsville-Mount Upton CSD, Walton CSD, and Hancock CSD. Committee members facilitating the meeting included Theresa Glavin, Walton Superintendent, Heather Wilcox, Gilbertsville-Mount Upton Superintendent, Kim Morris, Bainbridge-Guilford LINKS Facilitator and Elementary Teacher, and Amanda Hoover, DCMO BOCES Mental Health Coordinator.
The "All Means All" Steering Committee and one of the student board members will give a presentation about this regional initiative at the New York State School Boards Association Convention this fall.
