(Buffalo, NY) Over 3,000 members and guests of FFA chapters across the state traveled to Buffalo, NY to compete in Leadership and Career Development Events from May 14 through 16. Six students from the DCMO BOCES Harrold Campus FFA chapter traveled with their advisor Emily Anderson to compete in the Maple Career Development Event (CDE) and serve as delegates to the NYS FFA.
Charity Johnson and Calli Ruff, both from Unatego CSD, served as delegates, participating in discussions and votes on important issues facing the FFA at the state level, incuding membership, district and substate competitions, how FFA can help grow tomorrow’s agricultural workforce and the NYS Fair.
In the Maple CDE competition, Cody Taggart from Unatego CSD placed 2nd overall out of 250 competitors, and Isaac Jordan from Franklin CSD placed 5th. The Maple CDE team, with help from Alivia Plows and Alivia Vitek from Gilbertsville Mount Upton CSD, finished 8th overall. This was a great accomplishment for the Harrold Campus FFA team, who were well-prepared by their instructors, Conservation & Heavey Equipment teachers Zach Whittaker and Ken Larsen.
