group of Bainbridge-Guilford students with Workforce Essentials staff at SUNY Morrisville Norwich campus

A groundbreaking partnership between DCMO BOCES and the SUNY Morrisville Norwich Campus is empowering 18 local students to jumpstart their careers through a new six-month Workforce Essentials program. This innovative initiative immerses students in real-world experiences at the SUNY Morrisville Norwich Campus, where they engage in hands-on activities and enrichment education focused on communication, personal and professional growth, and essential job-readiness skills.

According to Sarah Casscles, Norwich Campus Director, the program was developed in direct response to local employer feedback, which highlighted a critical need for workforce preparedness among young people. The curriculum addresses key employer priorities, including effective communication, professionalism, work ethic, interview preparation, teamwork, and reliability—attributes vital to success in any career path.

Bainbridge-Guilford Central School took the lead by enrolling a dedicated group of soon-to-graduate students. The inaugural session, held on December 18, 2025, received enthusiastic praise from participants, who highlighted the value of interactive, hands-on experiences and opportunities for self-reflection.

This initiative is part of DCMO BOCES Enrichment Education, giving local school districts the opportunity to enroll students in transformative programs that foster early career exploration and build college and workforce readiness. You can find out more here.
