8-hour pre-employment Security Guard Training

COST: $82.50

SCHEDULE: Tuesday, January 7, 2020, 4:00 - 8:00 pm AND Thursday, January 9, 2020, 4:00 - 8:00 pm

MINIMUM: A minimum of four participants are needed to run the class. Class will be canceled one week prior to start date if the minimum number of students aren’t registered.

DEADLINE FOR ENROLLMENT: December 31, 2019

BRING TO CLASS: A notebook, pen or pencil, anddriver’s license for application

REQUIREMENTS: Students cannot have a felony conviction, outstanding tickets/warrants, or owe back child support.

INSTRUCTOR: Robert Culver

This is an 8-hour course required by New York State as the first step in obtaining a security guard registration card from the New York State Department of State. The course provides the student with a general overview of the duties and responsibilities of a security guard. The passing of an examination is required for successful completion of the course.

16-hour Security Guard Training

COST: $137.50

SCHEDULE: Tuesday and Thursday, January 12 - 21, 4:00 - 8:00 pm

MINIMUM: A minimum of four participants are needed to run the class. Class will be canceled one week prior to start date if the minimum number of students aren’t registered.

DEADLINE FOR ENROLLMENT: January 5, 2020

BRING TO CLASS: A notebook, and pen or pencil.

PREREQUISITE: Students must have attended the 8-hour pre-employment training in order to attend.

INSTRUCTOR: Robert Culver

This is a 16-hour course that must be completed within 90 days of employment as a security guard. The course provides the student with detailed information on the duties and responsibilities of a security guard. The passing of an examination is required for successful completion of the course.

8-hour annual update for Security Guards

COST: $82.50

SCHEDULE: Tuesday, January 28, 2020 AND Thursday, January 30, 2020, from 4:00 - 8:00 pm

MINIMUM: A minimum of four participants are needed to run the class. Class will be canceled one week prior to start date if the minimum number of students aren’t registered.

DEADLINE FOR ENROLLMENT: January 21, 2020

BRING TO CLASS: Not applicable

REQUIREMENTS: Students cannot have a felony conviction, outstanding tickets/warrants, or owe back child support.

INSTRUCTOR: Robert Culver

This is an 8-hour course that must be completed within 12 calendar months from completion of the 16-hour Security Guard Training for Security Guards, and annually thereafter. The course is structured to provide the student with updated and enhanced information on the duties and responsibilities of a security guard.

Reimbursement Policy

The New York State Certified training courses are subject to the following reimbursement policy, as specified by the NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS).

Students will be entitled to a 100% refund if they withdraw from the course at any time prior to the start of instruction.

If the 8-hour Annual Update course is divided between two 4 hour days, student will be entitled to a 50% refund if the student cancels after the start of instruction, but before start of second 4 hour block.

16 hour OJT course: Student will be entitled to a 50% refund if the student cancels after the start of instruction, but before the start of the second 8 hour block of instruction. If the instruction is divided between four 4 hour sessions, the refund schedule shall be 75%, 50%, and 25%.

A DCJS approved security guard training school cannot assess any non-refundable registration fees, deposits, or cancellation fees.

Reimbursement will be issued within the time frame specified in DCMO BOCES Policy #717.
