Mask Wearing Mandate Lifted

DCMO BOCES to school mandate for wearing masks

In compliance with Governor Hochul’s decision to lift the mask mandates for New York schools effective March 2, 2022, DCMO BOCES will end the mandatory wearing of masks for students, staff, and visitors effective March 2nd.  The Governor’s decision follows the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) new guidelines based on state metrics for tracking the COVID-19 pandemic.  District Superintendent Perry T. Dewey commented, “Everyone retains their right to wear a mask, and DCMO BOCES will be vigilant to share the organization’s commitment to respecting people’s right to self-protection.”  Dewey added that the Health and Safety team has prepared to distribute additional masks and test kits to staff, students, and visitors who wish to continue their personal protection.

According to Jason Lawrence, Health and Safety Officer for DCMO BOCES, cleaning and sanitizing protocols will remain in place.  “Processes are in place to maintain health and safety protocols to sanitize and clean all facilities.  We will continue to work closely with everyone to help them find comfort with this decision by providing protective supplies and testing resources,” said Lawrence.
