COVID Information

Guidance

DCMO BOCES follows the US Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidance with respect to COVID mitigation and responses.  (Please follow the CDC School Guidance link at right for more information.)  Currently, this does not include requiring individuals in schools to wear masks, except for five days following isolation due to a positive test result or showing symptoms.

What to do if you have COVID symptoms or test positive

In the event an individual exhibits COVID symptoms, we encourage them to test.  DCMO has tests available for students and staff.

  • An individual who tests positive for COVID is expected to isolate at home for five (5) days after the first onset of symptoms or the positive test result.

    • The day of the positive test result or the first day of symptoms is considered “Day 0 (zero).”

  • The individual can return to school on Day 6 if this person is asymptomatic and free of fever for at least 24 hours, but should wear a properly fitting high-quality mask until at least Day 11.

See the CDC Isolation and Precautions and CDD Use and Care of Masks webpages, linked at right, for more information.

Vaccine Recommendations for Everyone Aged 5 Years and Older

The CDC recommends that everyone aged 5 years and older should get 1 dose of an updated COVID-19 vaccine to protect against serious illness from COVID-19.

See the CDC COVID Vaccines for Children and Teenagers webpage, linked at right, for more information.
