I haven't heard anything concrete yet about what a school or district will look like if they jump through all of the hoops necessary to get a small piece of the RTTT funding. ALA has lobbied hard to get school librarians mentioned and funded.

I have not actually seen the NYS proposal. NYS is eligible for some $700 million in funding from the pot. The majority will go downstate if they get the award but some will trickle up to our region. You are right to be concerned since incumbent upon receipt of monies will be a district's willingness to implement oftentimes-dramatic changes in their culture, staffing and programming.

Let's hope that in the end, school librarians are valued in the process and awarded some measure of funding and recognition.

My Superintendent told me to go to the NY State Ed. website to look into RTTT. I think it is a good sign that she thought of the library?!

What have you heard about Libraries, librarians and the Race to the top grant?  I'm finding it worrisome...
