New Vision Teacher Education Preparation

The New Vision Teacher Education Preparation program provides an opportunity for high school seniors to explore the many aspects of a career in education. This program emphasizes the best practices in curriculum development, instructional designs, classroom management and the impact of social and political decisions within our educational institutions. The Delaware-Chenango-Madison-Otsego BOCES, in cooperation with its sixteen component school districts, will provide an inside look at educational issues while allowing students to learn the role of an educator within authentic classroom environments.

Through seminar instruction and mentorships within our counties, students will gain an understanding of classroom practices and a wide variety of educational careers from pre-school, elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, alternative, post-secondary and nursery classrooms. Students will work with teachers, school counselors, support staff, school social workers, and administrators as they complete rotations in areas of special interest. Under the guidance of instructional specialists, students will develop and implement lesson plans, collect classroom instructional data and meet with educational policymakers at the local and State levels. As students explore educational careers, they will research post-secondary educational requirements while preparing college applications.
