Network Mission

The mission of the SETRC network is to support the special education goals set forth by the New York State Education Department's Office of Vocational and Educational Services for Individuals with Disabilities (VESID). SETRC works toward this mission by promoting the development of local capacity in the 16 school districts it serves to prepare students with disabilities for school and lifelong success. Our SETRC office provides staff development and training, consultation and team facilitation services to educators, community agencies and parents of students with disabilities in this region of New York State. Within this model, SETRC trainers assist local district personnel to develop improvement plans based on the performance of their students with disabilities. This vision of professional development and consultation encompasses data analysis, needs identification, plan development, long-term implementation and support and evaluation of student results addressing both general and special education systems. We believe that all students can achieve high educational and vocational standards and can do so in warm, supportive and effective school and work environments.
