A message from the District Superintendent...

Education in New York State is in the midst of a revolution. Our students are being asked to challenge and pass high level state examinations that once were seen as being reserved for only the elite. Today we are being asked to educate all children to high levels, to eliminate second class diplomas, to leave no child behind. These are high standards indeed . . . . and these are good standards. As a state, we can afford to do no less.

In order for all children to meet these standards, everyone must work together to support their efforts…local district staff, BOCES staff, parents and community partners.

At the Delaware-Chenango-Madison-Otsego BOCES, we view our role as providing support for administrators, for teachers, for support staff, and for students to help meet the challenges of these higher standards. Our job is to help build the capacity for our 16 component districts to help them all be successful.

We at BOCES believe that we are an extension of our 16 component school districts – that we are partners with our school districts – and that we can play a significant helping role in improving performance for all students.

I would urge you to think creatively about ways that we can work together. The development of collaborative efforts saves money and produces additional revenues for school districts that can be focused on improving student performance. Your ideas will set our program development wheels in motion and you’ll become an integral part of designing the program, developing a budget, hiring staff, and evaluating the program. We’re here to serve you and all of the students of our area. Challenge us!

We want to be your educational partner.

Sincerely,                                                                                             More about our vision
